Guildhall School of Music and Drama

Made Architects has been appointed to improve the accessibility, secure-line, main entrance, new heart space and foyer to reflect the world class performing art and music, performed and played within the University.

The proposals include sensitive interventions including new lighting, acoustic ceiling, 'theatre curtain', music hall displays, fully flexible furniture, event support and new café / seating areas; all of which reflect and emphasize the existing brutalist materials and stepping back to the original 1970's layouts. Such examples include uncovering the existing stained glass and bringing back the original brass materials on the doors. Externally the works improve the arrival experience, including improving legibility, access control and the reception areas.
